Free Joomla templates

Template drives the look and feel of the websites. Several default Joomla templates are installed upon Joomla installation. There are two types of templates in Joomla: Front end templates and back end templates. Front end template is the one the visitor of the website sees while backend templates are the one the administrator will face. You can manage both the front end and back end Joomla templates with template manager feature in Joomla. If you want to use some other templates, you can visit several website where you can download free templates. Some of the website offer it for free, while other don't. After downloading the template from a free download site, you will get a zip file which can then be installed in Joomla via extension manager.

Joomla template development is different compared to html and css templates. There are certain guidelines that has to be followed while developing a Joomla template. You can either convert the html css design into Joomla template or simply integrate the design with Joomla. Joomla templates are designed in a way that it separates the coding with the presentation. Steps for installing a new Joomla template
1) Download the Joomla template, and copy it in some location of your computer. The downloaded file is a zip file.
2) Login as an administrator and browse to Extension->Extension Manager and upload the file.
3) Go to Extension->Template Manager. Check the checkbox left to template and mark it as default. Refresh the website front end, you will find that the template has been changed.
